Agency Brings ‘Summer’ to Rhode Island Blood Center

June 4, 2004

GLAD WORKS, the Pawtucket-based, full-service advertising agency, unveiled a television and radio campaign aimed at bolstering blood donation during the summer. The campaign encourages donors to take just one hour out of their summer activities to donate blood during a time when donations are typically slower. Only five percent of the population donates blood – and that small number diminishes even further during the summer months. “During the summer people’s schedules become crowded with vacations and outdoor activities” said Kathleen Connolly, Director of Public Relations at the Rhode Island Blood Center. “Blood does not take a day off. This campaign illustrates the importance of donating blood during the summer.” “The knowledge that it takes less than one hour to donate blood, and that by doing so you could potentially save three lives struck a deep chord within us,” said GLAD WORKS’ Marketing Director, Callum Grieve. “We’ve crafted a powerful message that it’s not only essential, but simple, to offer another person the amazing gift of hope.” The ‘Summer’ TV spots begin airing Monday, June 7th and will run through the end of August. The 30-second TV spot is viewable at the GLAD WORKS website at http://gladworks.com/portfolio/multimedia?page=10 About the Rhode Island Blood Center The Rhode Island Blood Center was founded in 1979 as a non-profit community blood center.
