GLAD WORKS Gets On The Bus for Volunteers

April 23, 2004

GLAD WORKS, the full-service ad agency, today announced the launch of a statewide public transit media campaign for the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island [VCRI].

GLAD WORKS launched “Family Matters,” a campaign focused on getting families to volunteer for effective community service in any of the wide array of needs represented by VCRI. “Family Matters” campaign posters beckon from the sides of RIPTA buses and bus-shelters, cost-effectively spreading the message throughout the Ocean State.

“VCRI's challenge,” said Executive Director Kelly Nevins, “was to get a simple, memorable message out about the importance of family volunteering – while showcasing diversity amongst volunteers. Working with the GLAD WORKS team, I think we accomplished that, with visuals that really catch the eye. I really appreciated how GLAD WORKS listened to what we needed.” “With Family Matters,” said GLAD WORKS Marketing Director, Callum Grieve, “we wanted to craft an uplifting, engaging invitation to volunteer in the community. And in an age when the average American watches four hours of TV per day, we felt the message that ‘spending good time with you family really does matter’ resonated powerfully.” About Volunteer Center of Rhode Island The mission of the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island [VCRI], established in 1969, is to connect people and opportunities for effective volunteer community service. We are the only statewide volunteer center that provides services to all ages and from all communities. For more information about “Family Matters”, please contact the Family Volunteer Coordinator, Lynne Harper, at 401.421.6547 x 107.
